Gonorrhea Health Advisory
“The New York State Department of Health Office of Sexual Health and Epidemiology (OSHE) as part of routine surveillance activities monitors the numbers of sexually transmitted infections diagnosed and reported in all counties within New York State. Over the summer, OSHE sent an advisory noting gonorrhea increases in select counties in New York State. The gonorrhea increases noted last summer are continuing and span beyond the original counties noted in the previous advisory.
Owing to these increases, OSHE has released another health advisory (see attached) to be shared with clinicians, and the relevant public health community in the affected areas. It is critical that all affected individuals be tested, diagnosed, and treated adequately and completely in order to reduce new infections and avert any long term complications caused by gonorrhea.”
